LV-426
Designed by William Guillon
LV426 refers to the name of the planet visited by the crew in the Alien movie. William has been obsessed by space and science-fiction ever since he was a child. The universe created by HR Giger and Moebius have had a very strong impact on his vision, and this is his tribute to them. With this creation referring to their work, he wants to make their universe accessible and to arouse curiosity towards this very peculiar aesthetic. In those pieces, one might see tortuous tree branches, or even fruit grapes. In his mind, it’s an interpretation of the Alien’s creature structure.
This collection in all its complexity required several months of development. As in the Sweet Thing collection, each piece is sculpted by hand by the artist before it is cast in bronze in a French foundry. All the pieces are unique and their shapes, finishes (patina and polish) can be adapted and customized on demand. The lampshades are made in a porcelain workshop in Limoges, France - the city which historically beholds the higher expertise and skills in this field. Each porcelain cocoon is handmade and gives the structure a mineral aspect. They are all unique and diffuse a soft and warm light to the room.
Each realisation of this lighting work is unique.

“I want to produce something exclusive that is really rather French. I mean, cent-per-cent Français… (that’s “100% French” for my exclusive English speaking readers… )”.
So this is what was in my American in Paris head when poof! appeared the very talented, creative and young Monsieur Rémi Capdepuy from Bordeaux. Why do I note that he is young? Well while working with the experienced continues to have some very serious advantages, oh youth! coupled with its enthusiasm and ambition is such an intrinsic factor when searching for the latest entrant to the avant grade - how can a merit as pure and affectionate as youth possible be ignored?

Mirror mirror, on the wall…
even your fairy godmother knows
it takes practice and patience to win them all.
How we see ourselves, B-I-G or small
The rest of the story is a manifest destiny?
A reflection of what you see in the looking glass on the wall.
The L Mirror is a design study first produced for a foyer powder room in New York.
You see the entire you. A slender slice of your reflection, remaining elegant yet still sufficiently vain.
You find yourself incased in the depth of its framework, liquid bronze covered aluminium - a design sufficiently light and sufficiently strong.
The imperfections of her finish rise through the surface, small depressions gather like a fascinated crowd of spectators within the interior of the frame curves.
Isn’t she lovely?

According to the Urban Dictionary, SALTY is when you are upset over something little…
Hunting for a bit of vintage Black Americana memorabilia for a client, I keenly recalled my first experience viewing a documentary film at University on the topic of the marketing terrorism which spawned from the social deviance of the 19th century. AUNT JEMIMA.
Upset over something little ?!…. No. BIG SALTED.
But then I stumbled across this little baby doll. And I recall one with her perfect tone of me was still so hard to find. ADORE!
She’s beautiful, just like all the other dolls. Salted no more.
These images are actually of the NEW MooN Couch.
A revised vision of the original prototype on view at the gallery, it was once in consideration for our exhibition at the Collectible Design Fair.
Designed by Privatiselectionem for Galerie SORS. in 2017, let me tell you that in the beginning of the adventure surrounding this design, I was on the mad hunt to simply purchase a standard seating element for the gallery.
Center room, window SMALL.
How do I get people settled in this space focused on the amazing view though such a keyhole?

We're All Mad Here...
Tales of the American collegiate as viewed through the lens of Me, Alice. You, Cheshire Cat. Location, The Rabbit Hole.
Alice. Come up from your rabbit hole.
Or tumble dramatically down the stairwell of Canfield. Or giggle madly on your bed or in front of the radiator on the bathroom floor. Mad giggles. Special thanks to Jack Daniel.
WHO. ARE. YOU?
Believe me when I tell you. We’re all mad here.
The days of the American collegiate are as unique as they are fleeting.
An experience to forever treasure, the friends made at this time in life become your family. A small army of comrades or even a secret society of the party that ultimately becomes the real beginning of the rest of your life.
What’s behind the door? At this point, the answer was a simple “I don”t know”. But it soon enough became, “if there is a wall, I’m going around it. If I can’t go around it, I’m jumping over it. If I can’t jump over it, I’m digging under it. If I can’t dig under it - well damn, I’m busting through it. I can’t think of a reason -
WHY. NOT. ME?…”
Dear Bennington,
Thank you for your guidance, for training me up to teach myself, to think for myself, to create, to invent, to endure the necessary.

To my sons,
ONE foot in front of the other. ONE step at a time. To be it, you must first be able to see it. This is why your absolute and total exposure to what the world has to offer is so important.
GLOBE TROT whenever possible.
How can one manifest an independence strong enough to envision the desired life you want to live, if you’ve never witnessed it done by another? How can one imagine greatness if surrounded only by the mediocre?
How does one have the goal, dare I say the INSIGHT, to show up in the world as an imaginative, contributing and productive member of the human society? A CREATOR sharing their true person, their talent, their inner art, their inner beauty, their soul.
This is what it takes to be RICH. To lead a rich life. To have soul. AUTHENTICITY. From this place, the money will flow.
Shakespeare’s character Polonius said it best:
This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Hamlet Act 1, scene 3, 78–82
To create MEANS of all manner of things - be it financial, be it compassion, be it a family, be it love…?
Be it… not only for themselves, as such richness naturally extends to create MEANS for those whom surround such a TRUE person.
If the propositions offered you are easy handouts… If the examples that surround you are ones of demands for entitlements with no requirements to contribute… fucking RUN in the other direction. Such seductions ARE too good to be true. The price you will pay is the cost of your FREEDOM. It is the imprisonment of your SOUL.
Nothing in life is ever FREE. No matter who offers it. Remember that.
To give of yourself with your own creative energy behind what is making the “thing” work is your LIFE;
Think about how you can see the possibility to ask for more from yourself, for YOUR LIFE, in order to make how you want to live and show up in this world actually happen. JUST THE WAY YOU WANT IT.
Do not let the agenda of OTHERS lead you astray.
Never forget that the government is not your MOTHER. Nor is the pretty girl you will eventually love.
Life is about creating opportunities for yourself, and in turn, for others. Refuse to waste precious moments in your short timeline demanding pitiful handouts. NEVER give your power over to others by asking them to shape your destiny; you will only be disappointed when they don’t give you one that is a sufficient fit for your person. Because it won’t be sufficient. Because they are not YOU.
MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN PIE. And be happy.
Take on the responsibility of manifesting the life you want. TAKE IT ON. Live the life you’ve been given. Be thankful. Be grateful. Because that creative energy that makes a thing called DESIRE is GOD working inside of you. Don’t place expectations to fulfill it on others. Save yourself from the disappointment. Don’t wait for the life you want to be handed to you. That day will never come.
You DO you. THIS IS HOW.

The spirit of 76’.
Bicentennial baby I AM.
Song’s in the Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder.
The entire A-L-B-U-M.
Every song. Every Single Word.
Originally written and recorded by Seals and Croft in 1972, this song is an early 70’s soft rock icon and purveyor of a certain brand of nostalgia of which I am particularly fond.
The 1974 cover recorded by The Isley Brother’s is a moment of profound reckoning. A true testament to the limitless capacity of songwriting excellence, the soft rock hit is transformed into an R&B solider with a rock based guitar solo for the ages. It takes you precisely to where you need to go.
The wall sculpture WILD, puissance de l’esprit libre (power of the free spirit), marks a new narrative positioning for artist Rémi CAPDEPUY.
A more personal and assertive approach, a visual power enhanced by an evolution of the artist’s signature finish.
Wild is the image of a free spirit fleeing from a seemingly self-centered society.
The latter is represented by the circular shape of the sculpture, illustrating the notions of cycles and inertia. Three entities, gilded with copper leaf, refer to the notion of appearing superficial individualities. This image is reinforced by the work of gilding (surface finishing) and the use of copper leaf (here being an imitation of the gold leaf). They find themselves engulfed as prisoners of society, all gravitating around the same center.
The free spirit, symbolized by a piece of raw oak, comes out of this set. It creates a rupture of the circle, rising above the rest of the sculpture, thus asserting itself by the power of its will. The visual force is reinforced by the work of the shades of the signature finish, leaving a trail, an explosion in its path.
The work is carved and finished entirely by hand in the artists workshop in Southern France. WILD has been created in exclusivity for Galerie Sors.

I wanted something designed and produced E-P-I-C.
I had the perfect client for such a project. Partner of a well known and well placed law firm in Paris, and a true collector and art investor, the piece would be not only seen but also used by the echelons of international society. How could this possibly be a bad idea?
I also had the perfect partner to design and produce such a piece. So over Sunday brunch with the collector musing about the art world and what he’d like to do with one of his conference rooms - well the two just fit together.
BREAD-AND-BUTTER
The first time there were unique specifications; a design piece for the primary conference room of a prominent Parisien law firm; the delicate balance between striking beauty, a degree of modesty and functionality must all align.
The second commission came in from a collector in the United States for a private residence. You can imagine that residence; tucked away in an unlikely geography to be cherished, protected.

PARKS and RECREATION are part of any good story.
If you google the concept, you’ll either be transported to various city websites, or more likely, a plethora of poster and photograph memorabilia of the so titled American television sitcom will take over your computer like a comedic virus.
I don’t know what to tell you about why we’re here on this topic just quite yet. The surreal hiking trip with an ex-boyfriend though the Muir Woods? The near MISS going off a cliff during a Northern California ski trip? The family road trip to the Grand Canyon that ended up in three cars and one enormous Elk down on a remote highway?
So many mere misses that as I write this introduction it has become clear: recreation is a health hazard. To so willingly participate in thrill seeking suicide missions once and again, well I can only explain it as a luxury afforded to a privileged few.
